We believe that a child's first formal schooling experience must be filled with exploration and fun activities which promote curiosity in a young mind. Egremont creates a safe, warm, and caring atmosphere for the Early Kindergarten students within a spacious classroom and a beautifully fenced playground area. Here, each child is monitored closely and encouraged to develop according to his / her own readiness.
The Early Kindergarten learning experience seeks to prepare children for the school years ahead. Acquisition and mastery of new skills are celebrated by both the school and parents as the students are lovingly encouraged to challenge themselves throughout this learning process.
Our Early Kindergarten program encompasses language arts, phonemic awareness / initial consonant sounds, reading readiness, mathematics, science, art, music/movement, dance, development of social and personal skills, computer knowledge, physical education, and Spanish as a foreign language.
Upon leaving EK, students feel confident in following oral directions, completing multi-step tasks, identifying and recognizing colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and letter sounds. They also exhibit a mastery of writing their numbers and upper / lower case letters, including their names. Students learn that they are competent and capable by independently carrying out tasks in taking care of themselves and others. Through praise and positive reinforcements, students are inspired to use effective communication skills to verbalize their wants and needs in a positive manner.
Egremont School's multifaceted approach to education helps our students meet the rigors of our academia as they learn to solve problems and become effective communicators.
