As with most independent schools, tuition at Egremont covers significantly less than the actual cost of each child's education.
Additional costs of attending school – including tuition insurance, supplies, and some school activities – are not included in tuition and vary by grade level.
Financial Aid
Attending Egremont School is a rewarding educational experience, and the school seeks to make that experience affordable to qualified students, regardless of their family’s financial resources. Egremont encourages families to apply for assistance while keeping in mind that the obligation for financing a student’s education rests primarily with the family. Financial aid awards are based on need. We do not offer merit scholarships. The financial aid application process is separate from the admission application, though the two are done simultaneously.
When applying for financial aid, families complete a Parent Financial Statement and submit it to a professional organization used by independent schools, the Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS), for evaluation. The financial aid committee uses this report combined with the Egremont School’s own financial aid policies to determine the family’s expected contribution. As funds are available, Egremont grants an award for the difference between the family’s contribution and tuition. The family is still responsible for additional school-related fees. The timeline for financial aid begins in late October/early November when the following year’s applications are available. Families need to complete their tax return as soon as possible after receiving their W-2s, and submit all their information to the school as close to February 10 as possible. It takes two to six weeks to process the application, and the committee needs to make decisions by early March, so the window is very small.
